Searching for Variables/Fields

Hi,

Does anyone know of an easy way to locate all instances of a variable and/or field in my application or at the very least, a specific view or form?

Also, if a variable is not used, is there a way to eliminate it from the application? It always shows in the resource list.

Thanks, Paul

Subject: Several options…

We use TeamStudio Configurator which is very good at doing things like this, but is a commercial product and so costs money. I don’t know whether Design Synopsis will give you all the information you need, but if not then another approach could be to export the design as DXL and analyse that.

Subject: Configurator is the way to go…

It is a fantastic product, allowing for find and replace of anything in the design, incredibly easy to use, and pays for itself usually within just one project

(I am not anything to do with Teamstudio)

Subject: Thanks

Thanks for both responses, I don’t think I will be purchasing anything though. I was hoping there was a way using designer.

Subject: I agree.

I been using TeamStudio Configurator for years (as well as several other of their tools) and I think it should be part of every Notes developers toolbox, together with the NoteMan Suite from Martin-Scott and some of the Ytria tools.

Here is the list of tools that I use pretty much all the time, and which I would suggest any Notes developer gets:

NoteMan Suite from Martin-Scott (the best spent $395 ever). They have a free trial version.

Ytria scanEZ, actionBarEZ, formEZ, viewEZ and signEZ (their Dev Suite). I don’t remember the cost, I think that suite is about $1000 or around. You can also buy the individual tools separate.

TeamStudio Profiler, Configurator, Undo and Delta. I think they are between $395 and $595 per tool.

I am not associated with any of those companies, I am just a very happy user of their tools. I blogged about the tools several years ago:
