I have a strange problem. The scrollfunction on my mousewheel works everywhere in Windows. All programs are able to use it. Inside Lotus Notes I can scroll through the right frame of my Notes window with the mousewheel, but I can’t do this with the left frame. It’s kinda strange and very annoying when you’re used to it. Can anybody help me with this?
If you’re referring to a frame, then you need to set the Scrolling function of the frame on the 2nd tab within the frames property. You can set it to On, Off, Auto or Default. if you want it always on then select On.
I used “frame” due to the lack of a better word. I mean the left view in a database. For example, in you maildatabase this is the part where the words “Inbox”, “Folders”, and “Sent” are located. In that window I cannot use my mousewheel.
Also I don’t know how to adjust settings for such a “frame”? I can’t find that option anywhere…
It sounds like you are referring to the left navigation pane that lists all the database views and folders. It also sounds like you are asking from a general user perspective, not from the developer perspective.
If from a developer perspective, set the frame properties in designer. (Frame properties/frame size tab---- “allow scrolling” should be checked.)
If from a user perspective, you need to RIGHT-click anywhere in the left navigation pane. Your scroll wheel should then work to allow you to move up and down in longer lists of folders. BTW, your menu actions will now be applicable for the navigation pane, so you can expand or collapse the folders using the buttons or your Shift+ or Shift- keys, if desired.
To use your scroll wheel within the actual view (the right frameset or navigation pane), you need to LEFT-click in the view to enable the scroll wheel on the mouse.
I am indeed speaking from a user’s point of view. The right-clicking in the navigation pane doesn’t do much, except bringing up a menu in which I can choose “properties” etc. After I exit that menu I still cannot scroll. Also when I left-click in the navigation menu (on the Inbox button for example) I also cannot scroll.
As for the developers perspective… I’m fairly new to the whole Lotus Notes thing, but I have a fair amount of computer experience, so I tried it. However, I cannot find the entry you’re refering to, could you please help me out with that?
The scroll ability will only be available if the number of entries exceeds the height of the open window. In most standard Notes views, right-clicking on any of the navigation window entries will “activate” that pane, allowing you to use the menu options and scroll wheel. (The inbox is a little more persnickety… )
For your question reqarding Notes Designer, I refer you to the Designer help documents. Doing a search for “frameset” in Designer help should answer most of your questions.
