Script failure after client upgrade to 6.5

My department uses a VBScript/GUI interface which accesses our mainframe and one Lotus Notes database.

After upgrading the client machine from R5 to 6.5 the VBScript errors out on the line of code which “sets” and “gets” the domino database. Specifically:

Set domDatabase = domSession.GetDatabase(“NOTES1”, “TELESALEDB.NSF”)

The error message is “#48” and sites a failure to find or load an un-named dll.

The problem only occurs after upgrading Lotus Notes on the client machine where the vbScript executable is running.

The NSF file in question is on the server which is running Domino 6.5.

Does anyone know what the true problem is? Could it be we need a new dll for the Notes client machine? Or do we need to change the VB script? Any advice please. This one is causing production problems.

Depending on the exact vs of the client, I suspect you are hitting the nlsxbe.dll registration problem!

See the following KB article:

Thank you. That fixed the problem. For anyone else who might see this, I simply followed the tech note which recommended going to the Notes program directory on the client machine and executing the command, “regsvr32 nlsxbe.dll”.

Thanks again, Rufus.
