Scheduled replication

We have some problems with scheduled replication. The replication is simply stops being scheduled, but a manual replication works just fine.

The replication is initiated from a remote server Mail1-MY/Domino (located in Malaysia) towards our mail server in Denmark Mail1-DK/Domino. The replication interval is set to 5 minutes as can be seen below.

Here’s an example showing what happens when the replication stops being scheduled.

--------------- snip from Mail1-MY/Domion log ---------------------------

2005/12/29 08:09:28 AM Starting replication with server Mail1-DK/Domino

.

. Succesful replication events

.

2005/12/29 08:19:30 AM Finished replication with server Mail1-DK/Domino

2005/12/29 08:24:42 AM Starting replication with server Mail1-DK/Domino

2005/12/29 08:24:42 AM Unable to replicate schema.nsf: File does not exist

2005/12/29 08:24:42 AM Unable to replicate with server Mail1-DK/Domino: No databases to replicate on that server

.

.

.

--------------- snip from log ----------------------------

I never see a Finished replication with server Mail1-DK/Domino for the second replication, but the replicator is idle and if I run

a “show sched -replication” I get.

show sched -replication

Scheduled Type Next schedule

CN=Mail1-DK/O=Domino Replication

We experience this problem two or three times a day and right now we have to restart the server to reestablish scheduled replication. Our link between Malaysia and Denmark

is pretty bad and its often down for a few minutes. But the servers should be able to cope with that kind of problems right???

Server information:

Mail1-DK/Domino - Domino 6.5.4 on AIX 5.2

Mail1-MY/Domino - Domino 7 on Linux kernel 2.6 (SLES 9 with SP2)

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Subject: RE: Scheduled replication

Mikael, You should contact Lotus Support about this issue. It appears that in your log, Replication eventually fails because it is trying to replicate with MAIL1/Domino instead of MAIL1-DK/Domino. For some reason it is dropping the -DK from the server name. I remember that I always tried to avoid spaces in Orgs and server names because of problems with entering Domino Server Console commands but I wasn’t aware of the Replica task having any problems like this. You should contact IBM Support becuase it appears that you have a lot of supporting log information about this issue.

Make sure you post the resolution in this forum so we can all learn from your experience.

Hi Kevin

Thanks for your reply.

I renamed the server names to hide our company name and forgot the -DK. Sorry about that. I’ve corrected the initial post.

Still this might be a case for the Lotus support team. If they find a solution I’ll post it.
