Saving this message would exceed the disk quota

I have a user who is currently receiving the following error message.

This message continues even after the quota was released and there is no longer a quota on his mailfile. I’ve also run compact on his mailfile. Any other suggestions as why he continues to receive this message?

Subject: Saving this message would exceed the disk quota…

Try setting a quota about 10% greater than his mail file size, then have him send and save a message. Then remove the quota and run compact -c.
