Hi, all
I just installed Domino server on linux and the email is working well. I have a question on saving files(Ms Word, Excel etc) so users can access them. I have created a database in the domino server, and it also appears on my Workspace. Now I m confused between creating folders and databases and which I can use to save files that users are working on. Say I have a project with many catergories of reports. How do i save these in Domino for users to download/synchronize with their clients?

U can create a database using domino’s MSoffice template which allows u to create and store Word, Excel etc. files from Domino itself.Template name is: doclbm6.ntf

A database is a place you can store documents. A document can contain attachments.
Folders can only exist in a database. They’re a way of organizing the documents. Other users don’t have access to the folders in your mail file; to have access to the folders they must have access to the database that contains the folders.
A document is not really contained in a folder, since the same document can exist in many different views or folders. A folder is just a way of grouping the documents into subsets.
A database need not contain any folders; users can still find documents without them. Use folders when you have a reason to; when they make things easier. Categories can often serve in place of folders.
