I have created 2 columns in a view that are editable. I put script in the InViewEdit event that works for validating but does not do a SAVE. How do you save the values that were just edited? The code for saving is there but the RequestType never becomes a “save request”.
Subject: Saving columns on Editable Views
Judy,
This is exactly the topic I hope to write an article about next month for the Developer Network ! It’s a very interesting feature, but not exactly clear as a bell.
You have to write your own code to push the entered value (which you can capture) into the backend document. The inviewedit won’t do that for you. Inviewedit only gives you the UI to do the editing, it doesn’t actually push the values anywhere.

for example
Sub Inviewedit(Source As Notesuiview, Requesttype As Integer, Colprogname As Variant, Columnvalue As Variant, Continue As Variant)
Dim doc As NotesDocument
Dim caret As String
Const SAVE_REQUEST = 3
caret = Source.CaretNoteID
If caret = "0" Then Exit Sub
Select Case Requesttype
Case SAVE_REQUEST
Set doc = CurrentDB.GetDocumentByID(caret)
Call doc.ReplaceItemValue(Colprogname(0), Columnvalue(0))
Call doc.Save(True, True, True)
End Select
End Sub
