Saved Search - is it Friday 13th today?

yeah, I know its Halloween but you do start to wonder sometimes.

So S uses saved searches. We haven’t done aything to her Notes id. Suddenly all her searches disappear (for her).

I can see them using NotesPeek.

If I use her Notes id from my pc I can see the searches. Aha we thought, the file must have been corrupted in some way.

So here’s what we tried so far:

  • replace her Notes id file with a backup copy (the one I used) & delete Cache.ndk. Still can’t see her searches.

  • deleted desktop6.ndk + cache.ndk . Still can’t see her searches.

  • rebooted pc. Still no joy.

  • deleted Bookmark.nsf. Still no joy.

What else can we try fellow Notes gurus??

(Oh, this is affecting more than one user. Notes client is 6.5.4 and server is 6.5.5. The users have locked pcs and the Notes client tehy use is a package(?) and not installed locally whereas I have the software installed on my C drive.)

Has someone recently rebuilt the package???

I am assuming it is a NAL package, which people always seem to forget should be tested on different systems across the company…

Have a look and see if that package has been recent updated…

Since you said ‘her’ has the user been renamed recently? I think searches are saved based on the username. If her name has changed and the ‘honour’ period is now over, it might explain why you suddenly can’t see the searches. Can you see from NotesPeek what username the searches are for??

Melissa - thats the first thing I thought of, & no she hasn’t changed her name. NotesPeek thinks the searches were/are hers. Ken - we’ll check into the package dates, thats not a bad idea.

The whole customer environment has some issues (thats putting it mildy).e.g. they use Outlook mail, so any doclinks are created as ndl files and at random intervals some people lose the ability to open them & get OLE error messages when they try. Its very strange, and not helped by the non-Notes bit being outsourced.

Subject: EOM

After raising a log with IBM wouldn’t you just know it the problem went away.

We suspect that there was a corruption on the server, and that the scheduled reboot sorted that out.

Anyway everyone has their saved searches back & if it happens again I’m going to start with a Fixup!
