I am running 7.0.1 and saved a form on which I had been doing some edits. When I tried to re-open it, I could not and got an error instead that simply stated, “Not a form.” Also, if I try to access documents on the client that were saved with that form, I get the following message: “The linked document cannot be found in the view.” There were no links in the documents, so I’m assuming this message relates to my “not a form.” Any ideas/suggestions?

Best of luck.

Joel,
Thanks much…looks like this has been an issue for a few releases. At least there is a little comic relief in reading the colorful language of others who have befallen the same fate. Lucky for me, I’ve got a back up so I’m set back only a 1/2 a day…could have been worse…as I have read here!
Regards,
April

Speaking as the fellow who will probably have to fix this if we ever know exactly how to reproduce it and it gets a high enough priority relative to other things we’re working on:
As you work on this form, be careful with your subforms. This problem seems to be associated somehow with having multiple copies of the same subform on your form, by way of including them in other subforms. E.g. subform A includes subform B, and form C contains subform A and subform B (hence, B is included twice, but not at the same level).
If you have managed to get this to happen in a way that does not involve subforms, please try to give an exact reproducible scenario so I can debug it and see what’s going on.
Please call Lotus Support to complain. Posting here doesn’t do anything to raise the priority of the issue, because this is not a formal customer feedback mechanism. The more people complain, and the more detail they can provide about what they did, the greater the likelihood of a fix.

OMG IBM is listening!!
OK, well, for what it’s worth Andre, what scant details I can offer for how this occurred (R6.5.5) happened to me like such:
I have two DBs, DB1.nsf (Manager access) and DB2.nsf (Editor access). I have a form, “form1”, in DB1.nsf that has a couple of subforms that exist in DB2.nsf. I copied and pasted those inserted-subforms off of form1 and into a new form, “form2”, also in DB1.nsf which I am (was!) designing.
I tried to view form2 through a web-browser, was told Error 500, tried to open the design of form2 again in the Designer client and was told “Not a form”.
For what it’s worth. Hope it helps.

As of version 7.0.2 it seems to occur (although not every single time) if you copy and paste your subform from FORM A to FORM B. FORM B will get the “Not a Form” error.
Also, while seeing if I could reproduce the error with greater frequency, it also changed the table background color. In this case, from a goldish color (not on my color pallet) to some pinkish color that Lotus thought was the closest match, and once rather than pasting the subform, it pasted all the fields and tables form the subform onto the form rather than the subform itself.
To reproduce, create a form and add a table. Inside the table, insert a subform. Save. Reopen the form, select your Subform, and Ctrl-X (cut) and then repaste it. Save the form. Exit the form and go back in. I could reproduce the color changing within 2 or 3 tries and pasting of the fields rather than the subform within 5 to 7 times.
