Sametime with 8.01 lotus notes

Hi.I saw the related thread about adding the sametime clienttype to the sametime.ini file, but I am not sure how to proceed.

I don’t see a ‘client’ setting in the sametime.ini file.

it is in C:\Program Files\IBM\Sametime Connect

So I assume that is the correct directory to modify sametime.ini in.

What I am seeing is that the sametime that comes with 8.01 never logs in and never generates an error message - it just just has an ‘X’ in it in the taskbar.

I can manually fire off the 7.5 client and it works fine, and the community settings are the same in the 8.0 version for messaging.ibm.com, so I’m not sure what the issue is.

1 - is that the correct sametime.ini file?

2 - what line do I add to try adding the other client, or is there another solution I should be trying.

Subject: You need to set up a Sametime community

In your Notes 8 Client, choose File → Preference → Sametime → Server communities.

This is where you configure the integrated ST plugin. It’s different from pre-8 releases and even 8 Basic client, where the location doc was used to configure ST. The new preferences are stored in your data\workspace folder, so if you’ve already done this and it’s still broken, rename the folder and restart the Client.

If that continues, try the following:

  1. Shut down the Client

  2. Navigate to your data dir

  3. Delete cache.ndk

  4. Rename the workspace subfolder to oldworkspace.

  5. Restart the client and try again.

Subject: Different Clients

Even though the Sametime Connect and the integrated Sametime in Notes are the “same”, they do not support the same parameters, and there isn’t a sametime.ini file for Notes. Try just connecting to you ST sever with a fresh Notes install, configuring it through the client.
