We’re having a problem with random users on hte 8.01 client. There are two main symptoms we see, both assoicated with the built-in instant messaging. Both seem to only affect a handful of users and seem to happen randomly.

In the location document of all users we have the sametime server listed as “sametimeserver.company.com” Every few months though this will magically change on 10-20 clients out of 600. This seems to happen to all affected users at the same time. The sametime server name usually changes to a “sametimeservername/IMET” format.

This affects even less users but sometimes we run into a problem where a user can’t signon to sametime even though they’ve been using it previously. The server name hasn’t changed in the document, everything appears OK. Resaving the location document seems to fix this even though it appears correct already.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing these issues? They’re both random, but are very annoying especially when happening to an exec. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
