Regarding requirements for Sametime 3.1 Lotus recommands an intel PII server with 1GB RAM and not much HD.
Does anybody have expirence with this size of server, or is a bigger server needed ? In the end we will have between 500-1000 users, using sametime in our notes domain.

Specifically with ST 3.01 IF3 (at this point…) on a 800 Mhz, 768 MB of RAM, 9 GB HD machine.
We have over 1400 users, but probably don’t crack 200 concurrent users very often. We also don’t do a lot of meetings. With that in mind, the server runs around steady at 20% CPU usage.
I won’t ever accuse it of being fast when meetings load up, perhaps that would improve with a more substantial server (clients and network hiccups are never a problem, right?)
So… if you’re doing mostly chat, you are well within the range of acceptable hardware. If you are looking more towards meeting services or see your user base growing more, you may want to invest in a bigger box.
You shouldn’t need a lot of space unless you plan on recording meetings for playback.
