Sametime not working since client upgrade to 8.5

Hello all. We’re in the process of upgrading from Notes 7.0.3 to 8.5. We’ve upgraded two of our Lotus Notes clients to 8.5, but neither user (myself being one) can connect to our existing Sametime server. The users that have not had their client upgraded are able to use Sametime without issue. We’re using Sametime 7.0.1, any suggestions? Thanks!

Try File -preferences - Sametime - Server Communities - Reset user. Re-enter user authentication information.

I’m running Domino Admin and Lotus Notes client on 8.5.1 (servers have not been upgraded). I found today that I can log into sametime from the admin client the same way I did before the upgrade - but only if I haven’t already opened my Lotus Notes client. I cannot connect to sametime from my Lotus Notes client at all, it’s launcing a Lotus Sametime 8.0.2 window and I’m unable to connect to our sametime server, the error is ‘Unable to access Sametime, please try again later.’

I am experiencing the same problem also. My guess is it is not working because the embedded Sametime in the client is for 8.0.2, we are only running sametime 7.5. Can some one please confirm this.I am however able to connect to my instant messaging by going through the internet to my sametime server.

btw the error message when trying to connect from the client is Unable to access sametime. please try again later

I am using the 8.5.1 standard client and sametime connect 8.0.2 and it works fine. must be something with your server settings. how is your server setup in the location document? Do you have a notes server name, windows host name or IP address? How about in your sametime communities settings?

Same issue. We tried the Notes server name, Windows name and the IP address and the same problem exists.Any known fix for a Windows pc?

Also, our sametime server is still running Domino 7.0.3. Is this the issue?

do you know if on the servers configuration document under the basic tab. The Maximum Client level is at 7.0.3 could be the problem. Truthfully I have never really looked at our IM server since I became the admin so not much experience with it. I know its the limited use. We have a server name and I will take a look at the sametime community settings and let you know if I can see anything in there.Thanks for your help

Subject: Works in one, not in another - Sametime on Linux SuSE.

My users all run Lotus Notes 8.5.1 FP2 on SuSE Linux.

Of them, only one can connect through Sametime 8.0.2 client. While the rest report authentication failure.

We have tried resetting users, providing the correct authentication and even going as far as resetting the passwords by our administrators. To no avail.

What is perplexing is that none of us understand why one of us can connect while the rest cannot.

Solved the problem in a roundabout fashion. Installed “sametime-connect-8.0.2-1.i586.rpm” to solve the problem.
