Dear Lotus/Sametime Experts,
We are having a hard time installing Sametime 3.0 on one of our customer’s XP workstation, (which also has Lotus Notes client 6.0.1 installed). The error message is:
“The unInstaller setup failed to initialize. You might not be able to install this product.”
The Lotus Notes client is connects to a remote Domino 6.0.1 server, and the Sametime Client is supposed to connect to another remote Domino 5.0.11 server - if I could get it to work!
The Knowledge Base entry 1104893 suggests that it is due to a previously failed installation, so after clearing up the registry entry and deleting the installation files, it should work. But that did not help either.
Also, it works well for other users with similar environment configurations, so I’ve got to believe it is a single machine that’s causing the issue.
Any ideas what we can try here?
With much appreciation,
Sultan

Okay… this is the ND6 forum, not the Sametime forum. And, what are you tryng to load on the client? Sametime Connect? There is no other ‘Sametime 3.0 software’ to load, as the rest is java apps for the browser. STC should work find on XP with 6.0.1, since that’s what’s my machine it!
(Both ‘client’ STC and ‘web’ STC.)
Provide some more info, and perhaps where the ST people hang out more, and we/they can help! Also, as far as I’ve heard, ST 3.0 only is certified (server side) for 5.0.10; not 5.0.11 (am I mistaken?). I thought I’ve seen posts were upgrades to .11 or .12 have broken it.

Thank you for response.
The Sametime Software I am referring to is the Lotus Sametime Client 3.0 (not sure if it is also called Connect).
We have other users with this customer’s configuration (Win XP, Notes 6.0.1) and it works so I gotta believe there is something related to her computer.
I will try the solution Greg suggests and see what that does.

Sultan

Try extracting the contents of the Sametime installer in to its constituent files and run the setup.exe from there.
