SameTime chat logging in Domino 8.5

Hi everyone. Does anyone know if the SameTime chat logging capability on the server side of version 8.5 is better than 8.01? I know you can do chat logging on our current version (8.0.1), but it is WEAK. All you see is the text buried within HTML code, making it unbelievably difficult to read the transcript of the conversation. There is no sorting, filtering, or indexing for the purpose of seaching. We are currently looking into a third party software product called IMtegrity, which is the only 3rd party SameTime chat logging software I can find. It does what we want it to, but it is pretty expensive, and would not be necessary if chat logging is more robust in version 8.5.

A co-worker of mine is running the 8.5 version of the client on his MAC, and that allows hi to archive his SameTime chats, and everything looks great. Transcript is easy to read, and all is sorted by date. I am wondering if the 8.5 server side is going to be just as functional.

If anyone knows if the chat logging is better on 8.5, let me know. Also, if anyone knows of any other 3rd party SameTime chat logging software besides IMtegrity, let me know.

Thanks,

Brian

Subject: Chat logging provided with server is for sample use only

It is used to demonstrate the service provider interfaces that we provide for 3rd party or custom logging integration but is not supposed to be a full featured chat logging tool.

I believe FaceTime has a good logging solution but I have no personal experience.

Version 8.5 does not give anything new on the server side. It will still log conversation using html (if the client supports it). Check out http://www.permessa.com/products/Archive_Sametime for an IM Archiving solution. The chats captured in this solution will look exactly like the chats that are captured in the Notes 8.5 client.

Permessa’s solution allows selective archiving, high fidelity chat aarchiving (capturing rich text, emoticons, images and files).
