I’m hoping that the Domino Web Access (a.k.a. iNotes) team at IBM and the Lotus Instant Messaging (a.k.a. Sametime) team are occasionally reading each others forums, because there are some problems that effect both products.
A few of us have written about this particular problem, but I haven’t seen any comments from IBM personnel yet, so please disregard this if you’ve already reported a fix or workaround.
Here’s the scenario -
One server hosting Domino 6.5 Enterprise server. End-users use both Notes clients and Domino Web Access.
Second server hosting Sametime 3.1 server with Intermittent Fix 1 applied. All end users have a ST3.1 client which they’ve downloaded, installed and set up their Buddy Lists on.
All server’s Windows 2000 SP4 with all Windows Updates applied.
All end-user’s PCs running W2K SP4 or WinXP Pro SP1 with all Windows updates applied. Using IE6 SP1 on PCs when using DWA (Domino Web Access).
Sametime 3.1 IF1 server has tunneling turned on, but there is no Firewall, no DMZ and no Proxy Servers in the way when I was performing various tests.
90% of everything works great. And Sametime awareness (sorry, I mean Lotus Instant Messaging) works just as expected from within the Lotus Notes client. Awareness, Buddy Lists, and Chat all work great. Haven’t checked on Audio/Video yet, but we’ll worry about that on another day.
But here’s the 10% that doesn’t work, and I’ve got to tell you, it’s going to cost me a lot of goodwill if I don’t get it fixed right away.
Directory Catalog lookups absolutely do not work from within DWA client. The particulars of this issue are here - http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/DateAllThreadedweb/0b5a3412b6c6b69a85256ddd0065eb05?OpenDocument
My second problem is that none of my users, (including me, a person with Manager access to everything) can not get Sametime awareness at all from within DWA if I choose the “Enable Instant Messaging” Preference option.
I did find that if I uncheck this Preference option, I can at least get Chat working, but no Buddy List or Buddy List awareness.
I have already made sure that I’m using the up-to-date STLINKS file on both Sametime and Domino Servers. And even though I knew it was a long shot, I’ve made sure that a replica of STAUTHS.nsf (Secrets) and STAUTHT.nsf (Tokens) is replicating from my Sametime server to my Domino Server.
I had planned on adding STEP this weekend, but I’m a bit reluctant to add any new services until I get the existing products working.
If anyone has an idea, a fix or a workaround, please help. I’m going to post this in the Sametime Forum as well.
Thanks.
