Sametime awareness if in different domain

I’m having trouble getting sametime awareness in my 6.5 client to my sametime server. I have a different ID file for my sametime server, and I see no place to place that information. We are able to access Sametime through the sametime connect on this machine.

Thanks for your help.

specify a sametime server in your location doc on that client. I know in 6.0.2 there is an Who’s Online button that only shows if you have a sametime server listed. That may be the case in 6.5 as well.

Like Nancy said, just specify the sametimeserver (or hostname of the sametime server…) in the location document. The moment it tries to connect, you should get a logon box that enables you to specify a username different from the one your Notes client is using. Works for me!

Subject: re: logon box? Sametime in Notes

We have Notes and have many users in the Domino Directory. We also have an LDAP. Our Sametime runs from this LDAP. These two directories are different and the same user’s name in the two directories is different.

I see what your saying about a login box.

But if I wanted a Notes Application that shows awareness on the names in the views. I have a problem.

My users name in the view is the Notes Name but to show awareness on that name it needs to be the LDAP Name.

It would be nice if we could specify the Sametime username (if different) in the Domino Directory so that Awareness could translate the username as needed and we could use the awareness in our apps.

Am I approching this wrong? Any other ideas?

Thanks for the reply.

This makes me mad since Lotus was the one that pushed us to use Sametime and Quickplace with our LDAP rather than our NAB. The reasoning they gave was LDAP is the future for these products. But now they integrate these items using the NAB as the focus, leaving us in a bad situtation.

The only way for this to work for us would be to convert Notes to use our LDAP names (not going to happen with 5000 users) or if lotus can add a solution similar to the what I mentioned in my last post.

There’s more problems with this, and more to be expected in the future.
