Running Blackberry Professional Software on the same server that handles mail

Release notes for Blackberry Professional Software for Domino says that it can be loaded on your mail server. Blackberry Professional Software is a lighter version of the Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) . RIM recommends that the BES server run on a separate server .

We have a server that handles less than 30 users and don’t want to use another Windows server for the Blackberry software if possible.

Has anyone ran the Blackberry Professional software for Domino on a server which also handles mail? I’m curious to know if it impacted the performance of Domino.

From RIM: “You can install the BlackBerry Professional Software on your messaging server or on a separate server.”

Subject: *works fine on same server

Subject: BES on same server as mail

I run BES 4.1.6 on a mail 8.0.2 server. I have 20 BES users, it runs no problem.

Subject: no problems

I’m running domino 8.5 and BES 4.6 (latest service packs and releases) on the same server with no complications.

Subject: What’s the max?

Sorry to bring up an old topic but I was just informed that we are adding another 100 Blackberries to our system. We also have our BES software installed with our Domino environment. We have a dual-quad core set up with 8 gigs of ram on this server. We are going to be upgrading this server at some point in the near future and separating the two, but the Blackberry additions will happen prior to this. With the 85 or so Blackberry users that we currently have on this server, do you think that an additional 100 would be too much of a load on this server?
