RRV Bucket is corupt in .nsf (local archive)

Hi all,

One employee in my company, recently formated this machine and himself did the “backup” of lotus notes files (copy and paste in a pendrive)…

When I configure the new Lotus Notes 8.5.1, she cannot open the achievement and receive this error: " This database cannot be opened becouse a consistency check of this is needed"

I try to fixup the database and receive the “RRV Bucket is corupt”

I try the

load fixup

load compact

load updall

but, all tries come with a “RRV Bucket is corupt” again… so… what is next?? what i´ve to do in this case?

Notes: 8.5.1

Design: mail8.5.ntf

Quota: none

Size: 3.5gb

Windows XP

Oh!, i try to open in other computer AND server the same file… no sucess…

Subject: Restore from backup.

RRV Bucket errors rarely can be fixed by FIXUP. The RRV is like the roadmap of all the database objects contained in the NSF.

So if this is corrupt the system is not able to determine where one notes object starts/ends.

The only outcome is to restore from backup. If you are still able to open the database then sometimes creating a new replica can help get some of the data back.

Subject: no backup, its LOCAL .NSF

New replicas no available ! Same error !

Why it happen? searching on ibm website I found the same error in all versions ! (4 to 8.5)… after all this years IBM never make an fix for this issue…

Subject: corruption

When a corruption error message(RRV bucket) as this occurs, as previously stated the database is beyond repair. It is not a Lotus/IBM bug, but a type of corruption brought on by end user misunderstanding. If the database is of extreme importance there may be a 3rd party tool available to fix the database, but I am unaware of any such tool.

A workaround would be to create a brand new database and name it to something that does not exist. Copy all of the users documents from the bad database (that is assuming it can be opened) into the new database.

Delete corrupted database correctly, and give new db users old name.

Unfortunately, options are very limited here.
