Since some time we get the error “Router: Unable to open mailbox file SMTP.box: File does not exist” in the logs, although our mail box files are mail1.box and mail2.box. We never had a SMTP.box, where does this message come from?

You don’t have a Lotus Notes client installed on the server, do you?

We have a client on the server, but both, the program directory and the data are only copied on the server and they are in different directories to the server. We never started a installer for the client.
I thought, this wouldn´t be a problem.

Reason I ask -
To my knowledge, the Domino server hasn’t used an SMTP.box (i hesitate to say ‘ever’) as long as I can recall, but the client does.
If you’re seeing a message re: SMTP.box in the log, my assumption is that someone is opening a Notes client installed on the server - a practice that is no longer recommended - and the client is probably writing that message to the log.

Hi Mark,
no the client hasn´t been opened since a long time and we have this error very often in the log.
