Roaming vs. Win Logon/Mapped Personal Drives

It seems to me, with all the bugs, and inconsistencies of getting the Roaming to work efficiently, that a better option would be simply to use the Windows logon, map to a personal drive, which stores their personal files, names.nsf, desktop, dsk, etc., as well, have their Notes Icon start in this directory. Isn’t this the same thing? This would achieve the same affect as Roaming, users could logon at any computer, have their personal settings.

What’s the difference, other than the Windows/mapped drive probably is easier to configure with less bugs.
