$$Return within Notes

When a domino form is submitted in a web browser, the $$Return field is essentially the “response” window - telling the browser what to display next.

Can that happen while in Notes?

So when a form that has a $$Return field is edited and saved in Notes - can the $$Return field be directed to send something?

eg

@if(clienttype = “Notes”; “[http://www.notes.net/…]”; etc.)

Or does it require some CGI stuff that triggers that the input was a browser?

I would appreciate any advice.

the notes client will not react to anything in the $$Return field, you would have to use the Querysave or Queryclose events in the form design area

Michael thanks for the response. Just to clarify,

I’m not really concerned with any reaction within Notes. I do want to send a URL after the save though.

So the idea would be (for instance) user edits notes document - using notes client. after save - I need to send a URL via http. I’m just wondering if $$Return could be used as the trigger rather than a form event like QuerySave.

Do you know if it computing - even though there’s no Notes reaction, would it still have an http effect?

Thanks again

As stated my Michael, the $$Return field has no effect whatsoever in the Notes client.

If you want to use http to ‘send’ an URL after save, I would do that in the PostSave-event and use either the MSXMLHTTP object or (if thats enough) the @URLOpen function.
