Hi All!
As you probably know R4/R5 support for return receipts was only “guaranteed” between Notes servers.
e-Mail going from a Notes server to let’s say Hotmail did not return a receipt, even if asked for.
My question on R6: has this been changed? Or is it still Lotus vs the rest of the world ? (just joking…)
Thanks in advance for your answers!
Cheers,

Subject: Return receipts on internet mail
Unfortunately, IBM does not have the power to force Hotmail’s servers to comply with the standards for sending return receipts. If the server doesn’t want to send anything, it can’t be forced to.

Course not…
The thing with these receipts not working is that you simply cannot explain to a user that it doesn’t always work … Especially when you don’t know yourself WHY it doesn’t work.
They just go : “There’s so many standards that are enforced: why not this one?”
Thanks for your response anyway!!!

The short answer is that nothing is changed with return receipts in D6 to my knowledge. Domino uses the standardized method of dealing with return receipts; if the receiving server/system uses that same standardized method and they have return receipts for internet mail enabled, one will be generated.

Thanks Jef!
It would seem that the problem is not with Domino, but with other mail servers / systems.
Which is good news
