Return Receipt returned with reply - sender didn't request one

I’m having a situation where a user is sending an e-mail that has a return receipt on it. They get the return receipt successfully, but if the recipient replies, the return receipt is automatically included on the reply, without them selecting the option. There is a technote that talks about this problem exactly - reference number 1154698 - but we do not have a dual client environment. Everyone is using a 6.0.2 CF2 client, and our server is 6.0.2 CF2 HF243. I’ve checked the $Mailer field on all the e-mails, and it says 6.0.2 CF2, so I know they aren’t using an R5 client.

This has happened to a few of our users. Person A replied to a message sent Person B and got return receipts that he didn’t request. There was no tmpReturnReceipt field, but the ReturnReceipt field was set to 1.

Does anyone have any ideas about what would be causing this, other than a dual-client environment?

Click on Support at left, and use the search form. Select the technotes option for the search area, enter the technote number and click the make-it-happen button.
