$$Return Questions

I have two questions about $$Return:

1.) A field holds a message to be displayed by $$Return. If this field is null, is there a means of preventing $$Return from displaying any message (including the default ‘Form submitted’) and having the updated document displayed instead. (For example, if a submitted document results in an error, a message would be displayed, but otherwise the updated document would be displayed.)

2.) If a message is displayed by $$Return, is there a link that can be added to the $$Return formula to return the user to the previous page? I’ve tried the following without success:

This results in a ‘Page not Found’:

appURL := @GetHTTPHeader(“Host”) + “/” + @WebDbName;

docURL := appURL + “/” + @Subset(@ViewTitle;1) + “/” + @Text(@DocumentuniqueID);

“

<a href="” + docURL + “">Return to previous page

”

This displays a new document rather than the document that was being processed:

docURL := HTTP_Referer;

“

<a href="” + docURL + “">Return to previous page

”

Thanks.

Subject: $$Return Questions

If you put a URL in square brackets as the output of the $$Return field, domino tells the browser to redirect to that page.

If you use double square brackets, domino will return that page directly to the browser.

See “Customizing the ‘Form processed’ confirmation for Web users” entry in the Designer Help.

As for the url you tried to generate that gave you a ‘page not found error’, have a look at what URL is actualy being generated. You are probably generating a URL that just isn’t valid. Try not using the host name explicity, just use a url relative to the server root, i.e. starting with a /.

Note that I’ve had specific problems using bracket redirects in 6.
