Restricting e-mail to external entities

Due to legal requirements, we’ll need to prevent a group of offshore users from sending e-mail to persons outside the company.

Any idea how we’d do this?

From an application standpoint, I’m thinking we could lock the users out from updating their local addressbook.

While we use Outlook for e-mail, users DO have the ability to send e-mail from Notes due to our Notes applications. In theory, they could type in an external address in an e-mail in Notes if they ever figured out that this functionality exists.

(For Outlook/Exchange, we can set up rules on the Exchange server that provides this restriction - do such restrictions exist on Domino mail servers?)

So - in summary - how do we prevent offshore staff from sending external e-mail?

Thanks!

On the Domino server, edit the messaging configuration document. Go to the tab Router/SMTP, Restrictions and Controls, SMTP Outbound Controls. Put these user’s notes names in the field “Deny messages from the following Notes addresses to be sent to the Internet:”.
