I have restored a mail file from a backup tape that I put on my server’s desktop. I then created a test folder on the server and copied this file to it. When I try to open it it says it can’t open because it says a consistency check is needed. How can I do a consistency check and will this corrupt my current mail database? I just need some emails from the old mail database to copy into his current database.

you should be able to do a load fixup from the console. You are better also completely renaming the file as well rather than just putting it in a different folder within notes. I normally rename it bumailfile.nsf and also change the description to “backup of persons name”. You really don’t want notes getting confused and thinking they are replicas of the same file (they will share the same rep id etc).
