Resource Reservation ReservedBy field

I came across a situation that exists in the standard Resource Reservations database related to the ReservedBy field, among others. During the approval of a resource, the person who approved or declined the reservation was added into various fields (ReservedBy, From, Principal, Author and possibly others). A field called OrigReservedBy was created containing the original person who created the reservation.

I can’t understand why this would occur. Does anyone have any ideas what the logic behind this might be?

Thanks

Subject: Will report this but

can you explain what issues you are facing because of this?

Subject: forwarded to development

Subject: Q/A time…

First off Ill echo Madhus question: are you having any problems because of item changes?

Next up the Answer portion of the reply (with some more questions sprinkled in).

Not all of the items you cited should be changed when the Room Owner Accepts or Declines a request. Certainly NOT Chair or Principal among others!! If you are seeing this then make sure you are using a stock R&R template and not a customized one. I own all of the test rooms in-house and I have yet to see myself take ownership of a reservation just because I Accepted or Declined it.

The only item that should be changing when a room owner takes action is ReservedBy. This item is used to indicate who sent the request. Since it could have been an AA sending on behalf of someone we keep that info separately so we can indicate it as such in the reservation.

For cases like that the AAs name would appear in the ReservedBy item and the users name would appear in Chair, Principal and ReservedFor (among others). When a room owner Accepts a request we put their name into the ReservedBy (to indicate that they blessed the request so RnRMgr should now process it). In order to avoid losing the AAs name (since it may be important or useful), we save that name off to the OrigReservedBy item.

So now that you know, be sure to let us know if this was a problem for you or if you were just being curious.
