Resource Reservation Application fixes

In the Notes/Domino fix list there are statements such as “SPR# BKAN74LP8E” fixed in 8.5.1 release. Is this referring to the Server Release, Client Release, or the Resource Reservation template.

For example, refer to http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/r5fixlist.nsf/738a582afa78208a852570c900548069/b97fca0b8193963c852576390003e3ee?OpenDocument. This is a fix for rename rooms. This is just one example. My main question is what does “fixed in 8.5.1 release” mean.

All of the servers on which the resource reservation applications reside have been upgraded to at least Domino 8.01.

A majority of the approximately 30,000 users are on Notes Client 8.5.1 FP2. A significant number are on Notes Client 6.5.1.

Some of the resource reservation db’s are using template “8.5.1 (09/04/2009)” and some are using template 8.0.2 (05/27/2008).

Does the statement fixed in “8.5.1” mean that the database must be using a 8.5.1 template on a 8.5.1 server and the user must access with a 8.5.1 client. Or will a 8.5.1 client accessing a db with a 8.5.1 template be sufficient.

I am trying to figure out what (if anything) would be fixed by upgrading from template 8.02 to 8.5.1.

Thanks for any input.

Subject: It usually means

that the bug is fixed in that version of the R&R template and/or Domino server. It usually does not mean that the bug is fixed in the Notes client since R&R is generally handled by the RnRMgr task (often in cooperation with the matching releases R&R template). There are some exceptions such as if a fix was for, say, fixing a rare search failure bug or handling a client side preference (e.g. something related to Preferred Rooms).

In the case of that particular SPR (“Remove the restriction on R&R renaming that prevents hierarchy changes”) it was actually an R&R template only fix.

I strongly encourage you to keep your R&R template in sync w/the release of Domino that you are running. There are often fixes / features which have exposed controls in the template which RnRMgr will rely on and if they are not there then the feature will take some default action like “turn off”.

So having an R&R template from 8.02 on an 8.51 Domino server is not a good idea. Unless you are heavily customizing the R&R template you should not have any reason to avoid replacing the template design (and re-enalbing the 4 Agents!) when you upgrade your R&R server.
