Hi,yesterday we upgraded from Domino 6.5.5 to 7.0.2 - all works fine - only the resource reservation has a problem:
after the design upgrade we can’t change resources which containing an “(” in there names. An error message pops up “resource names cannot contain special characters” - how to fix this (6.5.x allowes this characters…)
thanks
warm regards

Subject: Resource DB and special characters
Hi !I have the same issue…did you ever find an answer to this…I’m guessing I might be able to do this through the address book but that’s not particularly elegant…the Rename Resource option does not work either.
thanks.

Same question, wanted to know if you or anyway has found an answer to this. Is there anyway to modify the validation formula, so that you can rename the database and get the ( special character out of there.

We too have this issue and are unable to make any changes to the resources that have a “)” character in them. We use Owner options and cannot change the names to reflect staff changes! Thanks
Subject: possible solution
Technically, this is fixable. Here’s the code that validates the field:
@If(CommonNameResourceName=“”;
@Failure(“You must fill in a valid Resource Name before saving.”); @Contains(CommonNameResourceName;“\”);
@Failure(“Resource names cannot contain backslashes ‘\’ .”);
@Contains(CommonNameResourceName;“,”:“;”);
@Failure(“Resource names cannot contain commas or semi-colons.”);
@Contains(CommonNameResourceName;“@”);
@Failure(“Resource names cannot contain @ sign.”);
@Contains(CommonNameResourceName;“<”:“>”:“=”:“|”:“(”:“)”:“+”:“"”:“‘’”: “""”);
@Failure(“Resource names cannot contain special characters.”);
ResourceType=“2” & @Trim(ResourceCategory) = “”;
@Failure(“You must enter a valid Resource Category.”);
ResourceType=“1” & @Elements(@Explode(CommonNameResourceName; “/”))>5;@Failure(“Room names cannot contain more than 4 forwardslashes ‘/’ .”); ResourceType=“2” & @Elements(@Explode(CommonNameResourceName; “/”))>4;@Failure(“Resource names cannot contain more than 3 forwardslashes ‘/’ .”);@Success)
This code is in the “Input Validation” property for the field “CommonNameResourceName”. All you’d have to do is make a safe copy of the code somewhere, then remove the characters from the formula language that the input validation is trying to catch. Once you’ve renamed the resource, you could paste the original code back into the field property (or let the db refresh from the template). I’m going to give it a shot later this evening. If it works, I’ll post back here.
