Repost: Domino console/log filters

Hi all;

Got a question about log filters. When I create them, do they filter “out” what I select in them (“exclusive” filter) or do they only “allow” what I select in them to be logged (“inclusive” filter)? I’m experimenting w/this, but the results so far are inconclusive.

Further to that, does the impact of filter changes require any sort of server restart or delay? Am trying to reduce the amount of “stuff” being sent to log.nsf and to the console.

Thanks in advance…

Norm,Did you discover anything with your experiments?

I am also interested in reducing the amount of “noise” being written to log.nsf. Entries such as “Opened session for ” and “Closed session for , Databases accessed: etc.” have little value, in my opinion.

As I understand the documentation about log filters in the Admin Help, once you change the option from ‘log all events’ to ‘select types’, you then tick all the types AND all the severities for each type that you want EXCLUDED from the log (or the console). However, I have not been able to verify this directly.

It would be nice if someone from Lotus could clarify this.
