Repost 3rd Time - Replication Problem

Reposting 3rd time. I went thru all the forums and tried all possible solutions. Havent found the solution yet.

I have a Payment form ( main form in the database ) and a keyword form ( configuration form) in my database. Using this i have created 2 documents(1 each).

When i create a new replica using my id (have manager rights) the keyword document gets deleted in the server. Payment document stays back in the server. When i open the local

copy, both the documents appear. If i check the replication logs, it obviously says 1 document is deleted.

i tried with readers, authors field in the document and without readers, authors field in the documents.

Server name is in the ACL and in the readers field. Still keyword document gets deleted in the server.

I am stumped. Have been burried with this problem for almost a week .

Any one out there who can help me ?

Thanks a million in advance,

Raj

Let’s walk through this step by step incase you didn’t mention something that maybe important.

So you’ve designed a database with two forms (Payment and Keywords):

(1) Did you create design the database and forms with the same id you’re going to create the replicas? (I’m assuming yes, but want to be sure).

(2) Please do NOT have any readers or author fields on the document for testing purposes.

(3) For testing purposes I would keep your forms really simple and only have a single field on each. That way you can examine everything quickly.

(4) On the Form Properties, security tab - it should be set to All Readers and above, all Authors above and NOTHING else.

(5) The database is located on a Lotus Notes server? (Not on your C drive, or a network drive)

Created the two two documents (1-Payment and 1-Keyword). They should have no readers or author fields.

(1) Look at the document properties and make sure everything looks as expected.

(2) Look at the database properties and confirm there are only 2 documents.

(3) Confirm the ACL on the database. Is Enfoce Consistent ACL set on the Advance tab?

Create a new local replica. File > Replicate > New Replica.

What are the settings you are using?

(1) Before the system replicate, and before you go into the database - look at the document count on the server and the document count on the local replica? (Has the server dropped to 1 now?)

Do you have this problem with other databases when you create a local replica?

What version of Lotus Notes?

This is not the place for urgent questions. We are all volunteers here and do not have a lot of time to spend quizzing you. If it’s urgent, call in a consultant or contact Lotus support. They are paid to help you – we are not. I in fact generally ignore people who claim their problems are urgent here.

Replication is complicated. I believe your problem is with selective replication. This has been pointed out to you before and you just waved your hands and said no, the selective replication is set up fine, but you didn’t give the details. If anyone here is to have any hope of helping you, you will need to describe exactly and completely what your replication settings are in both replicas.

Replication works just fine without Readers fields. You said you had added some Readers fields. If you want them for some other reason, fine, but don’t add them just because you think they will help with replication. They will never help with replication, only add to the possible problems you might have.

Andre,

What did i do wrong ??????? I am also a contributor to this forum for so many years. When people mention Urgent, try to understand their problem. Try to help others. Dont just reply them and frustrate them more. I will figure out the problem myself. Thanks for yr time.

Raj,

Try to take on board what Andre is saying - this is not a place where you are guaranteed answers and solutions. There are certain people who specialise in certain things - if you have a specific problem and they are not around or if someone who knows the answer hasn;t got time to log on or misses your post or skips past it, that;s life. These things happen. It happens to us all.

And only posting questions does not make you a “contributor to this forum for so many years” - you need to give AND take. Why not go through the forum and answer a few questions yourself. That always helps

I didn’t only complain at you. I also told you what information you need to post to enable people to help you with this problem. Why are you ignoring my contribution towards answering your question? Asking you for more information about your problem is helping.

Since you ask, what you did wrong is this: Since you have been posting here for so many years (apparently under a different name?), you are expected to know the guidelines in the Forum Use And Etiquette and follow them. For long-time participants there is even less excuse. There’s a link to these guidelines on this page. Please read. There are two things on that list I’d like to draw your attention to: about marking your posts “urgent” and about reposts.

The thing about “urgent” is that we are all busy people. We have lots of stress in our jobs already. If you tell us your problem is urgent you are trying to give some of your stress to us. No, thank you. Saying your problem is urgent does not give you the right to jump the queue before other people who follow the rules.

I am also a lot less sympathetic about people who repost their question when people have been answering the original post. Instead of supplying them the additional information they suggested you post, you just repost the same incomplete question in hopes someone will be able to read your mind and answer it. You are wasting the time of the people who answered you before by not following up to them.
