I have had a user recently tell me that when he switched location document and IDs to log into my server he got a message: “The server’s certificate has expired. Do you want to access the server anyway?”. Well I didnt find much on that, and it was only happening to one user, until now. Now it happened to me when I switched to a different Location doc and ID and then back again. and NOW… when Im testing a form on the internet, and the form refreshed, I got the following error: “HTTP Web Server: Lotus Notes Exception - Your certificate has expired”
—Ok so what’s up? Where do I check this, and how do I fix it?

You can check your server’s ID properties, just open up the admin client, click the configuration tab, find “certification” under Tools, select ID properties.
Now browse out to the offending server’s ID file and see what it says. Certificate info (the server certificate as well as any others like the CA) will appear there with expiration dates.
In that same configuration section on the left side, you can find a certificates view, I believe that this shows only expired persons though!
To fix it, you would have to recertify the server ID… that’s detailed VERY well in the admin help if you’re not familiar with that. Just search for “recertify” in the admin help and you should see a “recertify server ID” as a topic.

Thanks… my server is on a Linux platform and i cant just browse out to the server id… but i can get a copy and bring it local to examine it. Thanks again

I had a similar problem with a user and this is how I corrected it.

I had the user go into their personal address book. Click View~Advanded~Certificates.

Locate the Cross Certicates (at the bottom).

Find the user’s name and select the entry just below their name.

Delete the entry.

Close Notes and relaunch.

The user will be prompted for a new certificate. They should click yes to accecpt.

After cleaning up ones I dont use anymore… I have 21 certificates under my name… delete ALL of them? or just the one for the domain that is giving me the error?
