Anyone have any suggestions for reporting solutions for Notes?
I have looked at Intelliprint, Integra and Swing and they are all limited in some way. Either they just die when trying to process really large databases or they just don’t provide flexible enough reporting capibilities.
What I would really like is a solution that works with Private views. I already have a adhoc query in Notes and it would be great to leverage that adhoc query.
There’s always Business Objects/Crystal Reports, although they no longer support native access (ODBC only now). Reporting has always been a major weakness of Notes, with no really good options other than writing lots of loops in LotusScript or buying a 3rd party tool. Practical LotusScript by Tony Patton has some good examples of using LotusScript to create sophisticated reports. I don’t know about the latest version, but Lotus Approach used to be able to create nicely formatted reports from Notes data.
We should not still be suffering like this in 2007!
Bruce - Here is some code that places the contents of a view into Excel. You might then be able to use VB or something to manipulate it into a report of some sort. I know this isn’t exactly what you are looking for but it might send you into the right direction.
I have been exporting to Excel for a long time but Excel just doesn’t provide the reporting that we need or at least I am not aware that it can do what we need.
