Reply All - CC omits part of external email address

One of my notes users has sent an email to an external recipient and copied in three internal users (same notes domain).

The external recipient has replied to all.

The originator of the message receives the mail back (the CC’d addresses are now external domain addresses).

When the originator does a further reply all, the .COM part of the internal users email address is omitted, which results in a delivery failure.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Matt

Don’t have a solution, only questions…

It sounds like you expect your internal message routing to be using internet format addresses. If so I’d have to ask why.

The most I would expect to see is a notes domain tacked on the end of the user name.

e.g.: joe bloggs/company @ CompanyNotesDomain

and you don’t normally get that much.

So my question is…is my understanding of your configuration correct?

Thanks for your reply.

I’d just like to ask a question for my own clarity on the problem.

The outbound email with the internal CC’d addresses, would be received by the external recipient with the CC’d addresses showing as internet addresses.

The external recipient replies to all, and everyone receives OK, but the email show’s external email addresses for the internal recipients.

Should this happen, or should domino translate the external addresses back to notes internal addresses?

Finally, the original sender of the message (the internal notes user) then does another Reply all (using the external addresses for internal users), then receives delivery failures to the internal recipients. Our domain would be example.com, but the failure message says no route found to example and the .com is ommitted.

Hope this is clear for you!!

ok, I understand the scenario now but not quite sure why it is occurring.

The inbound addresses do stay in internet format even when replying from a Notes client to local recipients (Something I hadn’t noticed before!)

Does it look ok on the client and only go wrong after the user has clicked send? If so I guess you need to look at things like the global domain document for things like

Domino domain(s) included: None

Domino domain(s) position: Left of ‘@’

Domino domain separator: . - period

Not sure if such things are still used in R7 though.
