Replicator Page

Hi

I have a problem whereby I have both a laptop and a desktop. The laptop naturally has replicas of server based databases (i.e. mail file) whereas the desktop does not.

To achieve a consistent UI, I am using the exact same user.id, bookmark.nsf and notes.ini on both PCs.

Problem is that when I log in to the desktop, the client config wizard checks the local drive for databases and because none are found they are removed from the replicator page.

When I go back to the laptop, the synchronised UI comes up with the same replicator page (i.e. nothing)

If the replicator page is going to clean up icons it doesn’t find then it should da*n well put them back when it finds them.

Ideally I want a way to turn off this functionality. Though I still want to apply organisational policies to the users.

Thought?

Mike

Thank you. I couldn’t understand why my mailfiles were dropping off my users Replicator Page. Its because in our Citrix environment we don’t have local replicas of their mailfiles.I’m not sure how we can fix this. Its hard enough to make sure users stay on “Office (Network)”.

Here is a thought.

Set up appropriate location documents for each machine.

On the PCs disable local replication.

On the laptops Enable replication.

You can find these settings on the replication tab of the location document configuration.

Bingo - that is the exact solution that we use for this scenario. I have a location doc called VMware for when I want to run Notes on a virtual machine that doesn’t have any of the replicas that are on my physical machine.

I suggest you also enable the option to prompt for location on start up.

Yeah that was my first plan of attack.

However Location documents, of this nature, do not work with the “Multi User Install” client, which has been deployed.

Thanks
