Replace Design - R5 Application on R6 Server

Hi,I have an application developed on R5 Designer. Later my client migrated to R6 environment and the ODS of the NSFs has been changed to 43(R6 ODS).

We have done some bug fixing recently on R5 designer in the application templates. which is now required to be ported on the production server(R6). We have not done any development using R6 designer.

Should we use R5 or R6 clients for replacing the design. What is the best practice for this.

We tried replacing with R5 client, but got errors like “Ignoring Porting of …older notes version.”

As long as your users are using R5, it is safest to stick with an R5 client. It shouldn’t matter which designer you use for the refresh – it will only use the functions you designed into it.

If the database resides on an R6 server, the ODS should not be an issue regardless of whether you have R5 or R6 clients/designers.
