this problem has been occuring frequently on all versions of lotus notes.
Usually what i do is that i sometimes send to my customers, and ntf version without code, and the customer replace it with his current nsf version.
What is hapening is that sometimes the modified elements in my ntf are not reflected on the nsf, and sometimes 1 form is left unmodified and the others are modified.
This is weird.
I have checked everything including prohibit refresh… on both ntf and nsf.
Any idea why this happens?
once I replace the design with and ntf with code it works.
I consider this is as a very serious problem, and I have been using notes since 5 years, and I find a problem maintaining my clients uptodate with the modifications I send.
Have you tried to re-sign the .nsf design elements before you create the hidden .ntf. this means that all design elements are updated, rather then just those you have changed.
the ACL in the ntf you are sending is not adequate for the ID being used to replace design.
OR
The 2 Servers concerned are not on the same OSD Version. If your Server is in higher OSD Version, the tepmlate will have a higher OSD. the other servier might not be able to read this file properly if on a lower ODS.
OR
The template file becomes “Read Only” when being transfered.
Suggestions :
next time create the template fresh without ACL and try.
while replacing the template, try putting the same first on the server, open it from server, run fixup on it and then sign the same with his / her id if replacing from client or admin ID if replace. this will erradicate any chance of corruption on the template.
If nothing works, open the ntf and nsf in designer, copy and replace design elements. Dont forget to sign the DB incase there is runtime security in effect.
Hi,1) I always clean the ACL in my ntf and send default manager.
same Domino version
no Read only
suggestions:
like i mentioned before, i always clean ACL.
when it fails I sign it with the client’s admin id but still fails, i did not run fixup before.
cannot do that since the design is hidden when i send it.
The strange issue is that when i open the ntf that i made i can see the modifications there, but the replace fails.
Another thing to notice, when the problem occurs at the client, I tried to reproduce it at office by creating a new nsf without code and replace it with the ntf that I have, and it also fails, so don’t think it’s related to client’s server.
Hi,I have faced this issue lots of times at the office, but whenever I try to copy some of the design element to a new database, the new db works fine without code. this problem happens very frequently, but it is very hard to copy it to send it to support.
I wrote an agent that saves all the agents in lotusscript, in case the replace fails, this way I will be sure that the agent was updated after replace.
But the db worked by itself before I even try to run my agent.
It just appears and disappears by itself, knowing that I have done more than 15 consecutive replace design and the problem was still there.
