After installing OpenNTF mail template 1.1e for a user, I am unable to replace or refresh the design of the mail template. I want to replace with iNotesWeb 6. The error is ‘Design refresh failed - invalid or nonexistant document’.
I have posted this on the OpenNTF forum and the only suggestion was to delete all design elements from the database. I am a Notes novice. I have asked how to do that at OpenNTF but got no response.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Has anybody else seen this problem with OpenNTF?
Thanks

As a suggestion - try replacing the design of the database with a different template (not the OpenNTF or the Mail template) and then replacing it again with the Mail template. I’ve seen this fix this kind of problem in the past.
Make a backup of the database first though, in case of problems.

Thanks. I tried mail6 and inotes R5, but I get the same error though.

I specifically said not a mail template… Try the Address Book template or something.
It may still not work, but it has more chance than a mail template.
Have you tried running Fixup and/or Compact on the database?

OK. Sorry to be such an idiot. I tried replacing the the address book template. Got the same error. The status bar did get much farther along before it quit.
After that, I tried running compact. Notes froze and I had to reboot to get it to work again. Now when i try to open that database I get multiple ‘Illegal Circular USE: OpenNTFLibraryUI’. It does eventually open, but the folder structure is mesesed up.
Don’t worry about this unless you know something off hand. This is not a critical database.
Thanks

OK (it just occured to me) - if you still have the backup copy of it (you did take that backup copy, right?) create a new replica of it. Then try the design replace on the replica. If that still doesn’t work, try a new copy instead of a new replica.

That fixed it. Thank you!

Try this:
On domino console (wherever you want, on the server [please not], on the administrator console):
load convert mail\thebaddb.nsf * iNotes60.ntf
*= you can type openntf template internal name (for instance for Notes it is StdR5Mail. I stated iNotes60.ntf because I am using it but it can be mail50.ntf mail6.ntf, whatever template you need to replace the original structure
Note: if design elements are disabled (Not to be replaced during design or replace design) it seems it doesn’t work at all.
I supposed you have full access to the db too, if under nd6, please activate full admin rights before!
