Sorry I forgot to mention that it has to be in LotusScript! I am aware of the replace command but i cant name each character by it self! Is there any simplier way?

Thanks

how do you expect to replace them if you can’t tell LotusScript what to replace?

Subject: RE: Replace Character

I want to replace all char that are not numbers or letters, I did it so far with telling lotusscript replace / with " " but I dont wannt to name all the chars explicitly! In C you can remove all char that are in ascii from 55 till 99 or something equal!

You could similarly compare each character to see if it is (>= ‘a’ and <= ‘z’) or (>= ‘A’ and <= ‘Z’) or (>= ‘0’ and <= ‘9’) using a loop.

There is no function in LotusScript to do it in the way that you want. You’ll need to list each item you want to exclude, as Paul said.

the amount of time it took you to post your question and deal with the responses you could have listed out the 36 characters by now, and then some. You don’t need to be slick, it just needs to work.

On the Windows platform this will do the trick:

Dim regex As Variant

Set regex = createObject(“VBScript.RegExp”)

regex.Pattern = “[^a-zA-Z\d]”

regex.Global = True

strAfter = regex.Replace( strBefore, “” )
