Renaming a mail id & regenerating id file

Hi,

I am using Lotus domino 6.5.3 and notes 6.5. I have created a new mail id and generated the id file and configured the client computer for the mail use.

Due to some confusion in the users last & middle name i have to rename the mail id. For that purpose i logged in to the Domino admin client connected to the registration server of the user and right clicked on the document and selected rename and did the necessary changes. After the replication was over in all the servers in the domain i could see that the new id has taken effect, but my doubt is how do i recreate the id file.

Because the user had the old id file that was created first time and whenever he sends mail the reply address is still the old.

Please guide.

If AdminP has not run, issue the console command: TELL ADMINP PROCESS NEW

Also, I would check the person’s location doc to see how they listed their address.

Thanks all for your suggestions.

give it some time. It takes a while for everything to complete depending on how your AdminP is setup. Wait at least 4 hours for everything to change. You can also check admin4.nsf to make sure all of the requests for the user have successfully processed, are scheduled to occur soon or failed for some reason.

Normally the ID file should be updated automatically when the user connects to the lotus domino server (e.g. open their maildb on the server). You can easily have the user check if the name in the ID file has been updated (file > security > user security, or verify during logging on).

Most likely this process went ok, but the user’s mail database (ACL and mail file owner) probably didn’t update. This can be caused by having an incorrect or no administration server in the ACL of the mail database. You can change this manually.
