Rename / move to new certifier changes ALL User names to new name - new in ND 8, a bug?

Hii moved some people to a new certifier on a 8.0.2 server. The move was successfull but the rename process changed ALL names in User Name to the new certificate. In Domino 7 the old name was kept along with the new, and the old name could be deleted later.

This means that users on a Domino 8 server responding to a mail from the renamed user before the rename gets a delivery error - user does not exist.

In Notes 7 a user called Peter Pan/OU/Cert would state the following in the User name filed on the person document:

Peter Pan/OU/Cert

Peter Pan

After rename in Notes 7 to Peter Pan/XX/New Cert the user name field would say:

Peter Pan/XX/New Cert

Peter Pan/OU/Cert

Peter Pan

Doing rename in Domino 8.0.2 the user name says:

Peter Pan/XX/New Cert

Peter Pan/XX/New Cert

Peter Pan/XX/New Cert

So noone can mail Peter Pan using his old name…

I think this is unfortunate. The old name should be kept a while…

Subject: re: move and rename users

Hi

I’ve done some move requests (and rename) with R8, got no errors and problems like you described. Running on 8.0.2 servers. I’m using script to do all this stuff, if there’s any differences.

regards

Tommy

Subject: check something

Please check the ACL of your Directory - in the Advanced Tab - Top Section - where it says Action - the default is Do Not Modify. If it shows “Rename” anything, that’s what is removing the old names. Please let me know if that’s the case. The technote below explains the issue.

Subject: ACl was set as you wrote. Now changed.

HiThanks for the tip. Yes, the ACL was set as you decribed. I have now changed the administration server to “Modify Readers and Authors fields”.
