Rename duplicate file attachments on submit

Can some one please help me with this file attachment problem…I tried to search this forum but didn’t find any solutions.

I have to deal with multiple attachments on a document and all the attachment names have to be unique i.e named according to user required formats.

for example if a document has an attachment called “Contract.Doc” a user will download it make changes and upload it again, (still the file name is “Contract.doc”) then in backend I have to rename this new upoad to “Contract.R1.Doc” etc.

I tried writing webquery save agent and extract the file and embedd it back with the new name but before querysave agent kiks in domino automatically renames it to some jibresh unique name.

If there’s a way to do this please help. appreciate your help

Even if you were able to rename the doc to your goal, you realize you could have duplicate files attached (meaning the same file content) though they have unique names?

yeah I understand and pointed this out as well, but I guess users still want this feature.But, I am not sure how to achieve this though :frowning:
