Removing Domino Designer without full uninstall

Hi all,

I am a complete noob to this forum so please go easy on me.

Basically, we have a few hundred computers with Domino Designer because of an incorrect install and then the image with the incorrect install was sent to our PC manufacturer and we got loads of PCs shipped in with Domino Designer installed and I’m pretty sure we don’t have licenses for it so we need to get it removed from each of the machines that does have it ASAP…

Now obviously we could do it on each one manually either through add/remove programs and selecting the notes client and clicking modify etc. etc… or

msiexec /I \ourserver\lotusnotesfolder\lotusnotes.msi

and then clicking modify etc. etc.

but I need to find a way to script this (to automate it) as quick as I can… I am looking into using AUTOIT and just scripting which keys on the keyboard to hit etc. to remove the domino designer but it’s hardly very elegant.

I did a lot of searching about MSIEXEC and uninstalling designer etc. today and I’ve come up with absolutely nothing.

We need to keep the Lotus Notes client intact on these machines as although I backup all the Databases, and the desktop6.ndk here in our building, around the rest of the region they do not and it would be quite a hefty task to implement that…

Now I’m guessing that a full uninstall and a silent re-install with a modified MSI or MST would do the trick except for it would probably remove all the client settings on each PC which I need to keep but if anyone knows if this is untrue please let me know ASAP and I can go about doing it that way.

However if anybody knows a quicker cleaner way to do this, to simply + automatically uninstall domino designer keeping Lotus Notes Client intact please let me know…

Any help is very much appreciated…

P.S… most of our clients are 6.5.2 and we have a good few with version 7.x.x and a small few with 6.5.4

I can’t verify this at my current location, but you could try removing designer.exe - I think this should do the trick and remove all designer icons in the client.

Guess you can’t fully remove the designer part because of the private view, agent thingy : )

Hope this helps,
