I just upgraded my lotus notes 7 to notes 8.0.1. with the Symphony option as it looks. Now i can’t work my office documents correctly in most cases and i want to GET RID OF Symphony again but don’t know how… any help greatly appreciated!!
Subject: Maybe you don’t have to go that far
IF you open explorer and right click on a (any) *.doc file, Click on 'open with … ’ and select a programm (even if Word is in the list) you can select word and check the box to have windows learn to behave like this from now on.
Same should be possible for XLS and whatoever others you have.
Subject: You can run the Notes 8.0.1 installer again,
After running Notes 8.0.1 installation wizard, click Next Step and choose Modify. Then click the icon next to IBM Lotus Symphony,
Changing from “This feature will be installed on local hard drive” to “The feature will not be available”.
Click Next and follow the instructions on screen until you complete the installation.
For mass deployment, you will need to touch install.xml ( trimUpdateSite might be helpful ).

Note: Component name will be changing to Symphony in Version 8.5, while using name of Editors in Version 8.0.1.
