Remove readers field - help

Noob question about readers field. I need (I think) to create an agent to run against a database to take out the readers field of each document. This field was added by mistake. I was using kSpam and turned on the KS_RECIPIENTS field which created a readers field to each document it copied to the database. I did not want this to happen but it did so instead of adding users to ACL group in this readers field and working the wrong way (even if that would work), I need to remove the readers field so that the users can see the documents again. Is there any hope in my mistake?

Thanks.

IF you can read all the documents - create a quick agent to cycle thru all the documents in the database and remove the readers field.

If you can use ‘Full Access Administration’ on the server that should allow you to read all the documents.

If you CAN’T read all the documents; same answer - create the agent, but have a person who can (admin), or the server itself run the agent.

I can read all the documents, how do I create the agent? Would I use “Simple Actions” or Formula. I’m not that good with creating agents. The only thing that makes sense to me is Simple Agent–>modifying field–>replacing the value of the field (KS_RECIPIENTS) with a new value. Would the new value be nothing (leave empty)? That is my pathetic guess, sorry.

Best thing is to create a formula agent…

Should be:

FIELD readersfieldname:= @DeleteField;

Select @All

(Select @all will be added by notes when you save the agent)

That will completely delete the readersfieldname field, e.g. it won’t exist as blank: it will be gone…

Would have answered sooner but couldn’t log in here, sorry.

See notes help for @DeleteField also, heres a extract just to be helpful:

Example

Deletes the value of an editable field.

Syntax

FIELD fieldName := @DeleteField

Usage

This function works in agent, view action, and toolbar button formulas.

If the field has a default value, the default value is reinstated after this function deletes the current value.

This function is the same as @Unavailable.

Use this function to delete invisible fields from documents, such as fields created using the @SetField function.

IMHO you can ignore the word ‘editable’ in the above help extract: @Deletefield will delete any fields, be they editable, computed, ‘invisible’ etc etc.

Example from the help:

This formula creates a field named NewDate and sets it to today’s date, then removes the field named OldDate from the document.

FIELD NewDate:=@Today

FIELD OldDate:=@DeleteField;
