Remove an icon from Workspace

Hi,

I have a Database which i need to move from one server to another server. I have many users using the database which is in the old location. What i want is a button that i will send to all the users, on the click of that button, the old icon should be removed from the workspace and a new icon of the database in the new server should be placed on the workspace. Can anyone help on this. Thanks in advance.

What may well be worth investing €’s in is ServerAdmin Plus. Use it to move databases between servers, it will automatically update the workspace icon (with mail files they will also get an email with a button to press to update the Location document).

here’s an example of code to add the icon to the workspace:

Set doc = workspace.Currentdocument

Call doc.FieldSetText(“ConnectionType”, “Local Area Network”)

Call doc.FieldSetText(“LanPortName”, “TCPIP”)

Call doc.FieldSetText(“Destination”, “server name”)

Call doc.FieldSetText(“OptionalNetworkAddress”, "ipaddress goes here ")

Call doc.Save

Call doc.Close

I don’t know of any code to remove the old icon.

Or a simpler way, just do a “Link To Database” in the email, which will setup the workspace icon. But as Michael said… how to remove… i dunno
