Remote System not Responding ! Making me go Crazy

Hi , i am geting this" remote system not responding " error When my lotus client users from china are about to connect the “domain server” in hongkong.I Am able to ping the domino server even the website on the domino server is opening without any problems.Users from other location are able to connect the domain server without any problem through the client.Only this location has the problem.

I have tried the following things

1)Clicked the “Trace” and selected ip address as well as the domino server name.But still i getting that error.

  1. Reinstalled the lotus client.

  2. Created the new connection document.

  3. Deleted the cache.

  4. Tried from other machine

This problem started on one machine and now all the machine are giving me the same error.

This used to never happen with lotus client 5.08 only this new version 6.5 is giving me this problem , This problem noramlly us to come earlier when ever a user switch ids but after some time the error used to stop , but this time the error is not going …i have tried the admin id also …

Unable to find any path to Dss_NOTES/abc Group because Remote system no longer responding

Hi, I would recomend you to disable LAN0 port, As long you use TCPIP port disable all unused ports, because Notes will try to connect to server using all ports, if port is enabled you will have to wait for this port timeout.

and check whether you can resolve Dss_NOTES from DNS. server name should be resolvable from dns.

Sounds to me as if you have a firewall between your users and the hongkong server. Test connectivity on port 1352 from the client to the server using telnet or some other port sniffing tool such as nping or Blue’s port tool which you can get from http://www.BlueBitter.de
