Remote Server Setup doesn’t find a 8.0.1 server installed on Fedora9, patiently “listening”, though saying nothing about listening on port 8585.
The workstation, also with 7.0.1 administrator client installed, Java based window cannot ping the host, giving a “Network communication error occurred” though a command prompt can ping the new server host by ip address or host name.
Subject: Telnet
Hi!
Can you telnet the server from the client? Try something like netstat on the server…

Hello Roman,
I can’t speak specifically to Fedora 9, but most flavors of Linux are packaged with a software firewall with most ports closed.
It would be beneficial to review what methods of network configuration are Fedora specific, but you will need to open at least ports 1352 and 8585 to setup and allow server connections.
I hope this helps!
