Remote server is not a known TCP/IP Host

I am running Notes/Domino 8.5 EE on Win 2008 Server EE. I have a single server at the moment with a host name of mssfl.mssfl.us, which of course leaves me with a domain of mssfl.us.

In my console when the Notes/Domino Server comes up I get…

  • Router: Mail Router started for domain mssfl.us

  • Router: Internet SMTP Host mssfl.us in domain

mssfl.us

  • Error connecting to server mssfl: The remote server is not a known TCP/IP host.

On my mail replication I get the error…

  • The remote server is not a known TCP/IP host. Failed with mssfl.mssfl.us at time and date.

I initially thought a Windows Server update had changed the IIS port back to 80. I am using port 80 for the domino server. I disabled IIS on the Windows server and it didn’t help. I am not aware of any changes that I made that would affect this. I get the same errors when I try to create a new ID. That’s what brought all this fact finding about.

DNS entries appear to work because I can type in http://mssfl.us and get my home page on a browser.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

BIG thanks in advance,

Rick

Subject: Some things to look at

Have you tried to ping mssfl.mssfl.us? Did it resolve to the correct IP Address? Did you add mssfl.mssfl.us to the hosts file on the server and see if that works? I am thinking it is a DNS issue.
